Preservation is Our Mission
The Mexican War Streets neighborhood is a city-designated historic district in the heart of Pittsburgh’s Northside. Our society was founded to advocate for historic preservation in our neighborhood.
approval for modifications
In order to maintain the historical and residential character of our neighborhood, any external modifications to houses in our neighborhood must be approved by the Historical Review Commission of Pittsburgh’s Department of City Planning. Violators are subject to city building code violations.
Approval is obtained by applying for a Certificate of Appropriateness.
